Dual-Language Vocabulary


IMMERSION (n) [ih-mur-zhuhn-shuhn] 
Forms: Immerse (vrb), Immersion (adj)
Definition
: state of being deeply engaged or involved; absorption 
Sentence: In order to speak well, I have to immerse myself in another language

ALONGSIDE (adv) [uh-lawng-sahyd] 
Forms: Alongside (prep),  
Definition: along, by, at, or to the side of something
Sentence: He pulled his car up alongside mine 

CONSEQUENCE (n) [kon-si-kwens]
Forms: Consequentially (adv), Consequential (adj)
Definition:
an act or instance of following something as an effect, result, or outcome.
Sentence: If you break the law you will face consequences

INSIGHT (n) [in-sahyt]
Forms: Insightful (adj), Insightfully (adv)
Definition:
an understanding of relationships that sheds light on or helps solve a problem.
Sentence: Learning about language gives me an insight

CONFORM (v) [kuhn-fawrm]
Forms: Conformingly (adv, archaic) 
Definitionto act in accord with the prevailing standards, attitudes, practices, etc., of society or a group
Sentence: In high school I had to conform to the new trends and styles

Also, bold the stress syllable in your pronunciation, and make sure the sentence you write is original. The sentences would be better served if they were written to describe something about your topic, though you can write any sentence that better helps you understand it.
